On Caminito street, in La Boca, the sheet-metal facades are painted blue, yellow and red, one colour per panel, and pairs of tango dancers work the sidewalk for passers-by. That is where this trip begins, in the port district of Buenos Aires, three days before going to sea.
The second Argentine day leaves the city for an estancia in the Pampas: a display of horsemanship by the gauchos, a barbecue lunch and a traditional show. Then the Celebrity Equinox leaves port for 17 nights. Rio de Janeiro arrives through Guanabara Bay, between Sugarloaf Mountain and the hills. Salvador de Bahia follows, with the Pelourinho and its Afro-Brazilian culture. Then six days of crossing, the Atlantic and nothing else, until the Canaries give back the land at Tenerife.
The last stretch follows Spain: Cadiz, gateway to Seville and Andalusia, then Malaga and its Alcazaba. The ship docks in Barcelona at dawn on the 22nd day. A guided visit leads to the Gothic Quarter, the evening ends with dinner and a flamenco show, and the last night is spent at the hotel before the flight home.
