Eleven countries line the EPCOT lagoon and a 55-metre steel sphere stands watch over the entrance. Between the two, some attractions dive to the bottom of the ocean while others climb all the way to Mars. Walt Disney imagined a showcase of the future here in 1982; forty-four years later, the park has kept the habit of reinventing itself, and 2026 proves it again.

Four neighbourhoods rather than one park

Since its transformation, EPCOT has been divided into four districts, each with its own mood. World Celebration sits at the centre, around Spaceship Earth and CommuniCore Hall, where the park stages its exhibitions and seasonal shows. World Discovery gathers the thrills, from Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to Mission: SPACE. World Nature tells the story of the planet, with Living with the Land, The Seas with Nemo and Friends and the Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana trail. World Showcase closes the loop with its eleven country pavilions.

The walking matters more than people expect. The loop around the lagoon runs close to two kilometres, and a full day at EPCOT easily doubles that. Comfortable shoes beat a perfect plan.

From the ocean floor to Xandar

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is still the ride everyone talks about on the way home. The vehicle spins on its own axis during the ride to turn you toward wherever the story is happening, and it launches backwards.

Test Track reopened in July 2025 in a version reimagined with General Motors: you design a vehicle on screen, then put it through its paces on the outdoor track. Soarin' changed destination on 26 May 2026 and now flies over the United States as Soarin' Across America, with a new score and scents that travel with the flight.

For anyone who would rather keep both feet on the ground, Frozen Ever After sails to Arendelle from the Norway pavilion, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure shrinks visitors to the size of a rat in Gusteau's kitchen at the France pavilion, and Journey of Water opens a garden where water answers your gestures and occasionally soaks you.

Spaceship Earth still carries riders through the history of communication, from cave paintings to today. Disney announced a full reimagining of the attraction in August 2026 without giving a date. If your trip falls during the work, your advisor will know before you do.

Eleven countries in one afternoon

World Showcase is what sets EPCOT apart from every other park. Eleven pavilions follow one another around the lagoon: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom and Canada. Each was built with materials and proportions that echo the original architecture, and each is staffed by people from the country it represents. Ask them where they are from and the conversation takes care of itself.

The Canada pavilion holds a particular appeal for a Quebec visitor. The film Canada Far and Wide has been playing in Circle-Vision 360 since 2020, narrated by Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy, the gardens take their cue from Victoria, and Le Cellier serves its steaks in a wine-cellar setting.

At the table, several pavilions house a full-service restaurant, from French fine dining to an Italian trattoria by way of a German brasserie. Reservations open roughly two months ahead and the most sought-after rooms fill the same morning. Your advisor can handle it while you sleep.

Four festivals, four seasons

EPCOT runs on its festivals, to the point where arriving without crossing one is rare. The Festival of the Arts opens the year from mid-January to late February, with its galleries, its workshops and plates presented as artwork. The Flower & Garden Festival takes over from early March to early July and covers the park in topiaries. The Food & Wine Festival, from late July to mid-November, lines the lagoon with tasting kiosks. The Festival of the Holidays closes the year through 30 December, with the Candlelight Processional and Christmas traditions told pavilion by pavilion. Exact dates shift from one year to the next.

The evening ends with Luminous The Symphony of Us, the nighttime show that took over from Harmonious in December 2023. Seventeen minutes of fireworks, fountains and projections on the lagoon, carried by reorchestrated Disney songs. Stake out a spot along the shore early, or book a lagoon-side table at the Japan pavilion.

The back door: why EPCOT is the park where your hotel matters most

EPCOT is the only park on property with two entrances. The main gate in front of the great sphere, and the International Gateway, which opens between the United Kingdom and France, in the middle of the world promenade.

That second door changes a day. BoardWalk Inn, Yacht Club and Beach Club reach it on foot. So do the Swan, the Dolphin and the Swan Reserve, or by FriendShip boat. And the Disney Skyliner drops guests of Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Riviera right there.

Ten addresses, then, that enter EPCOT with no bus and no car park. For a family that wants to go back to the room in the afternoon and come out again for the fireworks, that is the difference between two days and one. No other park offers it.

Lightning Lane passes at EPCOT: seven days ahead, or three

Three products, three logics. The Multi Pass gives up to three experiences booked in advance in the park, one entry per attraction per day, with another to pick once the first is used. The Single Pass targets the highest-demand attractions, the ones absent from Multi Pass: two per day at most. The Premier Pass opens each Lightning Lane in the park once, in limited quantities.

The purchase window is the gap that counts: seven days before the first day of the stay for Disney hotel guests, three days for everyone else. At EPCOT, where two or three attractions hold most of the wait while the rest of the park breathes, those four days decide whether you ride them or watch them.

What EPCOT asks for that the other parks do not

Time and legs. The world promenade circles a lagoon, and the eleven pavilions are visited on foot, with no ride to shorten the distance. A family arriving at ten and hoping to see it all through to the fireworks walks farther here than anywhere else on property.

That is why regulars cut it in two: the attractions on the sphere side one morning, the pavilions another day in late afternoon, when the light drops and the terraces open. Two half days beat one long one, and it costs nothing more if your ticket allows coming and going.
