Disney Moderate Hotels

The Moderate category is where a lot of families end up settling. You gain queen beds, a pool with a slide, a proper full-service restaurant, and grounds big enough to make you want to linger in the morning. What you give up is being right next to a park, which stays the privilege of the Deluxe resorts.

Four resorts, and what "Moderate" actually buys

The Moderate category takes in Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and the two Disney's Port Orleans resorts, Riverside and French Quarter. It sits between Value and Deluxe, and the gap from Value comes down to three concrete things.

A table-service restaurant, which no Value address has. Themed pools with slides, on top of the quiet basins. More space, in the room and on the grounds. Every Disney benefit stays identical: early entry, parking included, Lightning Lane at seven days, the dining booking block, Disney transport.

What the category still does not give

Extended evening hours remain reserved for Deluxe hotels and Deluxe Villas. No Moderate address qualifies. That is the one line of benefits where the category gap really shows, and it is the one travel listings most often confuse with early entry, which everyone on property gets.

Transport runs by bus everywhere, except at Caribbean Beach which has the Skyliner, and the Port Orleans resorts which have a boat to Disney Springs. None of these four addresses reaches a park on foot.

How many people, address by address

The rule in this category is four occupants per room. Three exceptions break it, and they have to be requested explicitly when booking.

Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans Riverside offer a room category with a small pull-down bed on top of the two queen beds: four adults and one child in a single room. At Riverside, that category sits in the Alligator Bayou section.

Coronado Springs goes much further, and this is its least known advantage. Its villages offer a one-bedroom suite sleeping six and an Executive Suite sleeping eight, with a king bed, two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. In a category where the rule is four, that is an exit almost nobody knows about.

Port Orleans French Quarter caps at four, with no exception. A family of five set on the Vieux Carré theme should book at Riverside next door and cross over for dinner: the two resorts are linked on foot by the riverside walk.

Walking, the criterion nobody mentions

Three of these four resorts are large and cut into sections, with internal bus stops. The morning trip starts with a tour of the grounds before you even leave the hotel. Caribbean Beach spreads six villages around a lake; Port Orleans Riverside stretches along the river; Coronado Springs circles a lake.

Port Orleans French Quarter is the exception: compact, everything a few minutes away. If someone in your group walks with difficulty, or you travel with a double stroller, ask for a building close in or choose French Quarter.

The work, with dates for once

Disney posts a refurbishment notice on most of these addresses, almost always with no schedule. One exception: Port Orleans Riverside is being refurbished in stages from early May 2025 through August 2027, and Disney itself warns that guests may hear noise and see work. It does not condemn the stay, and it earns a precise question about the section assigned before you confirm.

What each address has of its own

Caribbean Beach is the central station of the Skyliner: the lines from Pop Century, Art of Animation, the Riviera and EPCOT's International Gateway all converge there. Its guests board at the start of the line, with no transfer, to EPCOT as to Hollywood Studios.

Coronado Springs carries Gran Destino Tower, three table-service restaurants including one on the roof, Club access and a convention centre. It is the one Moderate address built like a city hotel.

Port Orleans Riverside trades on oaks, the river and its walks, with fishing, carriage rides and a southern-cooking restaurant. French Quarter rebuilds the Vieux Carré on tight ground, with its Mickey-shaped beignets and its Mardi Gras pool.
