The building forms a horseshoe that encloses four savannas. Two hundred hoofed animals and birds live there, some thirty African species: zebras, giraffes, gazelles, kudu, flamingos. A savanna view room gives exactly that, a balcony above a herd, early in the morning when the animals are moving and the rest of the resort is still asleep. It is the only hotel on the property built around that idea.

The savanna view is paid for and has to be requested explicitly. The same rooms exist with a view over the parking area or the rooftop, at the lowest rate of the address, and they are identical inside. The whole value of this hotel rests on what the window gives onto: settle that line with your advisor before any other.

The Uzima pool covers about a thousand square metres, with a slide, a zero-depth entry, a wading pool and two whirlpool spas. Animal specialists run observation programmes, and the resort holds a collection of African art that Disney describes as one of the largest in the United States.

Eating African, which happens nowhere else on the property

Jiko serves considered African cooking in the evening, with a South African wine list. Boma puts out a buffet of African flavours at breakfast and dinner, and that is the one families remember. Sanaa, over at Kidani Village, serves East African cooking behind a window that looks onto a savanna: its Indian bread service with chutneys has become a fixture. The Mara settles the quick meals.

How many people can sleep here

Ordinary rooms sleep four with two queen beds. Past that, the address opens doors few people know about: a one-bedroom suite for six, a two-bedroom suite for eight, and on the Disney Vacation Club villa side, a two-bedroom villa for nine and a three-bedroom grand villa for twelve. The villas add a full kitchen and a washer and dryer inside the unit.

What a Disney property address gives you

Disney lists these benefits on its own page, and they deserve naming one by one, because most comparisons blur them together.

Early theme park entry. Thirty minutes ahead in all four parks, every day of the stay. The difference between riding two headline attractions and queueing ninety minutes for one.

Parking included. Standard parking at the theme parks, the water parks and the Disney Springs area costs nothing. Off property, it is paid every morning.

Lightning Lane seven days ahead. The general public buys them three days out. On the most sought-after attractions, four days of lead time change the shape of a trip, and it is the least known advantage of the lot.

Restaurants, the whole stay at once. Everyone books sixty days out. The difference is the block: from here you book the full length of the stay on day sixty, up to ten nights. A guest staying off property books one day at a time and arrives behind.

Disney transport. Buses, boats, monorail and the Disney Skyliner, at no charge. And MagicBand+ opens the room, enters the park and charges purchases to the folio.

Value, Moderate, Deluxe: what the words hide

Disney sorts its hotels into four families, and the gap between them is not only about luxury. A Value address gives plain rooms, a food court and buses. A Moderate adds a table-service restaurant, themed pools and more space. A Deluxe adds location — often walking distance or a monorail ride from a park — and extended evening hours. The Deluxe Villas add a kitchen and a laundry.

Everything else is identical: early entry, parking included, Lightning Lane at seven days, the dining booking block, Disney transport. A family choosing a Value does not give up the property benefits; it gives up space and distance.

Extended evening hours, the advantage that shows least and is worth most

Disney reserves extended evening theme park hours for its Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Deluxe Villas, on select nights. The Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is among them.

In practice: the park closes to the public and you stay in it. Queues collapse, photographs become possible, and attractions that wanted ninety minutes at three in the afternoon follow one another in twenty. It is the benefit that best justifies the gap with a lower category, and almost nobody sells it properly.

Getting around from the hotel

Buses serve the four theme parks, the water parks and Disney Springs. Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is the immediate neighbour, which makes it the shortest trip on the property from this address. The monorail, the Skyliner and the boats serve other sectors: here everything goes by road. The resort sits apart from the other hotels, which explains both the quiet and the length of the ride to Magic Kingdom Park. Disney posts work under way, with no published schedule.

One thing to know whatever the hotel: delivery of park purchases to the room no longer exists. The service has not returned since 2020 and Disney no longer lists it among its benefits. Many Quebec listings still advertise it. What remains: pickup at the front of the park at the end of the day, or shipping home.

Who this hotel suits

This hotel suits anyone who wants the hotel to be part of the trip rather than a place to sleep. Children spend hours at the fences, adults eat cooking they will not find elsewhere, and extended evening hours change the shape of the end of the day. It suits less well anyone who wants to walk to a park or step onto a monorail: Magic Kingdom Park is far from here, and every trip goes through a bus.
