Home2 Suites by Hilton sits in Flamingo Crossings Town Center, Winter Garden, less than two kilometres from the western entrance to Walt Disney World Resort. It opened in December 2020 with 272 suites, each with a kitchenette. Together with the neighbouring Homewood Suites, it shares the best pool in the area, the one with a water slide.

The suites and their kitchenette

Four configurations. The king studio sleeps four with its queen sleeper sofa. The two-queen studio sleeps six. The one-bedroom suite takes four, and the two-bedroom suite, with a king and a queen, takes six. In the studios a curtain separates the sleeping area from the living space rather than a wall.

The kitchenette is serious without being a full kitchen: full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, sink, toaster oven, pod coffee maker, cookware and utensils. What it lacks is a built-in cooktop, and here is the detail worth knowing: the front desk lends an induction plate on request. A guest who wants to cook eggs in the morning can, provided they ask.

The pool with a slide

Home2 Suites and Homewood Suites share a large resort-style pool with a water slide, a zero-entry edge and water play features. It is the only pool with a slide among the six Flamingo Crossings hotels, and it decides the choice for many families.

The Pool Bar and Grille handles food at the water's edge, and a bar occupies the lobby. A hot breakfast is included each morning, with a Mickey waffle station, breads, fruit, yogurt and a rotating hot protein. Be aware that queues are common in high season: go down early or wait until nine.

The Spin2Cycle facility, a Home2 brand signature, puts the self-service laundry and the fitness room in the same space, so you can run a load while you pedal. Parking is in a covered garage for a fee, with unlimited in and out access. Pets are welcome, up to two per room, within a weight limit and for a non-refundable fee.

What Gateway Hotel status gives you, and what it does not

The hotel carries the Walt Disney World Gateway Hotel designation. It allows booking directly through Disney in a package with park tickets, and a guest services desk operates on site.

It confers no park access benefit. Home2 Suites appears neither on Disney's official list of hotels eligible for early theme park entry nor on the extended evening hours list. Your dining reservations open at sixty days one day at a time rather than for the whole stay at once. Your Lightning Lane purchase window opens three days before arrival, against seven for a Disney Resort hotel guest. Theme park parking is charged to you.

Getting to the parks

A free shuttle serves select Walt Disney World Resort theme parks daily. Sign-up is required from twenty-four hours before departure, seats are limited, the shuttle is shared with other hotels in the area, and it drops at the Transportation and Ticket Center rather than the park gates. The last return generally leaves before the fireworks.

By car, allow about ten minutes to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios, a little more to EPCOT, and around fifteen to Magic Kingdom Park, plus parking and then the monorail or ferry.

The Town Center on foot

A Target is four minutes away on foot and serves as the area's grocery store; there is no traditional supermarket here. Add around fifteen restaurants, a Walgreens pharmacy and an AdventHealth clinic.

Who this hotel suits

It suits families who want a slide, a dishwasher and real beds for six, travellers with a rental car, and anyone travelling with a dog. The combined laundry and gym settles the logistics of a week-long stay.
