SpringHill Suites by Marriott Orlando at SeaWorld

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Orlando at SeaWorld stands apart from the rest of this section: it is the only hotel here that does not sell itself first on proximity to Walt Disney World Resort. It sits on International Drive, a few hundred metres from the entrance to SeaWorld Orlando and the Aquatica water park, with Discovery Cove a kilometre away. It is a six-storey all-suite property.

Its relationship with SeaWorld, stated precisely

The hotel holds the title of official partner hotel of SeaWorld Orlando. In practice that means it appears on SeaWorld's own site and can be booked inside SeaWorld vacation packages. That is useful for assembling a trip in a single purchase.

Here is what the title does not give you, and it is better known before arrival: no early access to the SeaWorld parks, no ticketing privilege, no associated discount. SeaWorld's official page for this hotel describes its location and amenities and nothing else. The real advantage is the few minutes' walk to the gate, which counts for something when you leave Aquatica at the end of the day with wet children.

On the Disney side, the hotel appears on none of the official lists: not early theme park entry, not extended evening hours, not the Good Neighbor programme, not the Gateway Hotel designation. The free shuttle to Walt Disney World Resort is a hotel amenity with no Disney benefit attached.

The suites

The studio suite runs about 38 m² and separates the living area from the sleeping zone, with a desk, a safe, an iron and an ironing board. Some rooms have a compartmented bathroom, toilet on one side and shower on the other, which speeds up mornings for four.

The kitchenette amounts to a microwave, a small refrigerator and a coffee maker. There is no sink and no cooktop, which makes it a breakfast and snack arrangement rather than a place to prepare a meal.

The pool and the facilities

The heated outdoor pool slopes gently in and comes with a SeaWorld-themed water play area and a whirlpool. There is no lazy river, no slide and no adults-only basin.

A full hot American breakfast is included each morning, six-thirty to nine-thirty on weekdays and seven to nine-thirty at weekends. Splash Bar and Grill serves pizza, burgers and sandwiches at the water's edge, and a Starbucks counter occupies the lobby lounge.

The hotel has a fitness room open around the clock, a coin-operated self-service laundry, a business centre and a meeting room for forty-five. There is no spa and no kids club. Parking is charged, with no valet service. Pets are not accepted. The hotel charges no resort fee, which is becoming rare in Orlando.

The shuttle, the broadest in this section

Marriott advertises free service to SeaWorld, Aquatica, Discovery Cove, Universal Orlando, Epic Universe, Walt Disney World Resort and the Vineland Premium Outlets. That is the widest coverage among the hotels in this section.

The schedule, the frequency and the booking arrangements are not published. Have them confirmed by the hotel before you travel if you are going without a rental car, rather than building your days on an assumption.

Who this hotel suits

It suits travellers coming first for SeaWorld, Aquatica or Discovery Cove, anyone wanting a central base on International Drive to visit several resorts in one trip, and anyone who would rather avoid a resort fee.

It suits you less if Walt Disney World Resort is the priority, if you want to cook, if you travel with a pet, or if you are hoping for a park access benefit.
