INFINITY ON THE BEACH

Infinity on the Beach no longer exists under that name. The property closed in July 2024 when its lease was not renewed, after roughly a decade run by the same family.

The good news: the building was not abandoned. It was fully renovated and reopened in summer 2025 as Hôtel Le Roy, under new operators, on the same spot on Dover Beach.

One practical warning before anything else: the site infinityonthebeach.com is still online, with a booking button and a phone number. It is out of date. Do not book anything through that channel.

What the building became

Hôtel Le Roy occupies the same address, Dover Road, at the entrance to St. Lawrence Gap, with the same direct access to Dover Beach. Sixty-six rooms, as before, but completely redone.

Six categories, with published sizes: garden view and superior garden view at around thirty-three to thirty-four square metres on the ground floor with a patio, ocean view at thirty-three square metres on the second and third floors, beachfront at thirty-seven, an ocean view suite at forty-nine, and a seventy-five square metre penthouse with separate bedroom and living room and a private entrance.

One change to know: the penthouse is the only unit with a kitchenette. The former Infinity offered one-bedroom units with cooking facilities. If that is what you were looking for, you need to look elsewhere, and we point you there below.

Eating and drinking

The main restaurant is called Boucan and works Caribbean and international cooking over an open fire. Add a rustic beach bar with a terrace, torches and picnic tables set in the sand, plus Bim Juicers, a juice bar. Beach barbecue on Sundays and live music every evening according to guests.

The hotel runs on the European plan: the buffet breakfast costs extra. Yoga is offered four times a week.

The beach and the pool

Dover Beach is white sand, with loungers, umbrellas and towels provided. The sea has more movement here than on the west coast, without being difficult: the eastern end of the beach is the gentlest, and the rest suits bodyboarding well.

The pool, by contrast, is modest. Guests readily describe it as a wading pool, and the former Infinity advertised two where there is now one. Know it: you come here for the beach, not the basin.

What to know before booking

The product is new and guests say so: spacious rooms, beautifully redone, a fine shower, good water pressure, fast Wi-Fi. Three caveats deserve to be known, though.

Noise. The hotel sits at the entrance to St. Lawrence Gap, the south coast's nightlife district. Guests report karaoke on Sundays and Wednesdays past one in the morning. If you sleep lightly, ask for a garden-side room and have it noted on the file.

Hot water. The water heater is solar. On cloudy days, hot water runs short. It is ecological and it is true.

Table service. It is slow, several guests report it. Allow time or eat in the Gap, which is a step away.

The minimum check-in age is eighteen, and there are no rollaway beds and no cribs. Grantley Adams airport is about eight kilometres away, Bridgetown about ten.

A word on sargassum

The south coast receives sargassum in episodes, mainly from April to August, and 2026 looks like a heavy year across the Caribbean basin. That said, nothing is ever certain from one week to the next: arrivals depend on currents and wind, and plenty of stays pass without a single sighting.

If you were looking for the old Infinity

You will not find it, but here are the addresses closest to what it offered.

To stay in the Gap with sand outside the door: Southern Palms Beach Club, on the same beach, livelier and better rated.

For a kitchen in the unit, which Le Roy no longer offers: Divi Southwinds, entirely suites with full kitchens, or the Rostrevor hotel, close by.

For an all-inclusive in the same area: the O2 Beach Club and Spa, also in Dover, in a distinctly more upscale register.
