What Margaritaville Island Reserve Roatán will be

The brand has published the broad strokes, and they give a fairly clear picture of the product.

One hundred and fifty guestrooms, all-inclusive, steps from the beach and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Two pools, a live outdoor music venue, an on-site spa. On the dining side, LandShark Brewery, JWB Prime Steakhouse and The Beach House, with all food and drink included in the package.

Island Reserve is Margaritaville's upper-tier all-inclusive format, operated with Karisma. That is a different positioning from anything Roatán offers today, which is exactly why the opening is being watched.

Where the construction stands

Ground was broken in March 2025. Since then the brand has held to 2027 as the opening year, without ever putting forward a precise date.

A timeline like this often shifts by a few months, and we will tell you plainly where things stand once a firm schedule is published. In the meantime, bear in mind that no inventory exists: what some sites show as available for this resort rests on nothing.

Where to stay on Roatán until it opens

The island is not short of open addresses, and they cover very different styles.

On West Bay beach, Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort offers suites with full kitchens and an infinity pool facing the reef. Mayan Princess Beach and Dive Resort holds the same beach all-inclusive, with one- and two-bedroom apartments. Paradise Beach Hotel and Henry Morgan Resort round out that stretch.

On the north shore, away from the cruise ships, Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort has the reef in front of the hotel: this is the address for travellers who come to dive first. And Media Luna Resort and Spa offers a quieter setting over at Caribe Point.

Roatán already earns the trip

The island sits on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world after Australia's. The West End wall drops to forty metres less than a hundred metres from shore, with visibility that regularly passes thirty metres.

It is one of the most affordable places in the world to get certified, in about four days. Wild dolphins pass off Bailey's Key, parrots and agoutis live loose in the vegetation, and the sand at West Bay stands comparison with any beach in the Caribbean.
