THE CORAL AT ATLANTIS

The Coral is the front door to Atlantis. It is the tower that makes the resort reachable for families who would never have considered the Royal or the Cove, with 609 rooms, full Aquaventure access and a location that puts Marina Village, the casino and the convention centre a few minutes' walk away.

Three things need saying up front, because they often decide the choice. Atlantis is not all-inclusive. A daily resort fee is added to the rate, per room per night. And the Coral's own pool is currently listed as temporarily closed on the official Atlantis site, with no reopening date published.

Aquaventure, the real reason to come

The room wristband opens Aquaventure daily: more than twenty swimming areas across one hundred and forty-one acres according to Atlantis, eight kilometres of beach, a current river, and slides including the famous tunnel through the shark lagoon. The marine habitat the resort advertises exceeds fifty thousand animals and two hundred and fifty species. The sixty-thousand-square-foot casino, rebuilt in 2023, is the largest in the Caribbean.

All of it is covered by the daily resort fee, which also includes Wi-Fi. That matters: the fee is not a disguised tax, it genuinely buys something.

The Coral's position, its best asset

The Coral plugs into the heart of the resort. A basement passage leads straight to Marina Village, home to Bimini Road, McKenzie's Conch Shak, Murray's Deli, the marina pizzeria and the ice cream counters. The casino and convention centre sit alongside.

For a conference delegate, for anyone who wants nightlife within reach, or for a family unwilling to walk twenty minutes to dinner, it is far better placed than the Reef or the Cove, both at the far end.

The rooms, without varnish

Three families only: guestrooms, Premium rooms and suites. Categories differ by view, terrace, harbour or water, and by a full balcony in most cases. The Premium rooms are larger.

The Coral holds the most compact rooms at Atlantis, noticeably smaller than the Royal. One detail catches travellers out every year: some east-side rooms face a neighbouring building or service installations rather than the ocean, despite an inviting view name. Ask your advisor to have a resort-facing orientation noted on the file, at 1 866 628-6241.

Eating and drinking in the tower

Sun and Ice serves ice cream, gelato and sorbet from Bahamian chef Wayne Moncur. A Starbucks occupies the ground floor. Poseidon's Table handles the buffet, shared with the Royal side, and Plato's is reachable through the interior link. A quick-service counter covers the lobby.

The Coral has no fine dining room of its own. The big Atlantis names, Nobu, Café Martinique, Seafire Steakhouse, José Andrés's Fish, sit elsewhere on the site, within walking distance. Book early: they fill.

One Coral feature for families with teenagers: CRUSH, the teen nightclub, belongs to this tower.

The Coral pool, to verify before booking

The Coral's family pool, with its swim-up bar, cabanas and daily programming steps from the Predators Lagoon, is the only amenity truly exclusive to this tower. The official Atlantis site currently lists it as temporarily closed, with no reason or reopening date published.

The resort's other pools stay open, and Aquaventure is not short of water. But if the Coral pool is among your reasons for choosing this tower, have your advisor confirm its status before you pay.

What travellers complain about

This needs saying plainly, because an unprepared guest comes home disappointed. Recent reviews report maintenance trouble: extended water outages affecting entire towers in August 2026, elevator failures, temperamental air conditioning, marked bathtubs, rooms described as dated.

Towel stations empty out in late afternoon. Loungers run short, made worse by day visitors arriving from cruise ships. And the daily bill surprises, because everything is paid and a service charge is added automatically to tabs.

Against that, nobody disputes the beauty of the grounds, the quality of the marine exhibits, the cleanliness of the beaches or the value of Aquaventure. The Coral is a good buy for anyone who knows exactly what they are buying.

Who this address suits

It suits families who want Atlantis without the upper towers' rate, conference delegates, travellers who want the casino and Marina Village on foot, and short stays where walking distance counts.

It suits less well anyone who wants a guaranteed ocean view, large rooms or a recently renovated tower: no Coral renovation has been announced, with Atlantis investment going to the Cove and the Royal.
