The Warwick is the Paradise Island all-inclusive, and just about the only one of its kind at this address. Two hundred and fifty rooms, five restaurants, two bars, a large lagoon pool, and a formula where meals, drinks, gratuities and taxes on consumption are included.

It occupies the eastern end of the island, on the Nassau Harbour side. That is the most important nuance on this page, and we return to it in detail below: there is genuinely sand and water in front of the hotel, but it is not Cabbage Beach.

The house sells itself as adults-only. The actual policy is more flexible than it appears, and is worth reading before booking a group trip.

A harbour beach, and Cabbage Beach ten minutes away

The hotel has a genuine sand beach on site. It faces the Nassau Harbour channel, with a swimming zone marked by buoys to protect swimmers from passing boats. The water is flat and sheltered, which is perfect for effortless swimming.

It is not, however, the great Atlantic beach of Paradise Island. That one is called Cabbage Beach, it sits about ten minutes away, and the hotel runs a shuttle there with a box lunch and beach service. The combination works well: mornings at the pool and afternoons on the ocean, or the reverse.

Say so clearly to your advisor if the postcard beach is your absolute priority. They can compare with the Cable Beach hotels, such as the Goldwynn or Breezes, at 1 866 628-6241.

Five tables, and one reservation not to forget

The Verandah covers the all-day buffet, indoors and on the terrace. Abbiocco serves Italian in the evening. Tings on a Stick handles pan-Asian and skewers, also at dinner. The Edgewater Grill holds the steak and seafood slot with a harbour view, by mandatory reservation. And Chickcharnie's, by the pool, serves pizza and grills from morning into late afternoon, then again late into the small hours.

That last detail deserves underlining: few all-inclusives feed their guests at one in the morning. On the bar side, the Hog Bar outdoors and the Rum Cay Lobby Bar from late afternoon.

The age question, more nuanced than advertised

The hotel markets itself as adults-only, but here is the actual policy, worth knowing to avoid a surprise.

You need to be sixteen to stay, accompanied by a legal guardian or an adult aged twenty-five or over. You need to be eighteen to make the booking. And from 15 February to 15 April, the spring break window, the minimum rises to twenty-one for check-in and facility access.

So this is not a strict eighteen-and-over like the Mexican all-inclusives: a sixteen-year-old may be present. A couple seeking absolute quiet should aim outside the spring break window.

The rooms

Two hundred and fifty units, no kitchenettes, across a few straightforward categories. Island View faces inland, and this is the category that holds the accessible rooms. Water View runs around twenty-six to twenty-eight square metres, with no balcony. The Harbour and Harbour Premium categories add a private balcony and, for the latter, enhanced Wi-Fi. The one-bedroom Harbourfront suite offers a separate living room and two balconies.

If a balcony matters to you, move up at least to the Harbour category: Water View has none, despite the flattering name.

Pools and activities

The large lagoon pool, with its islets and hot tub, is the centre of daytime life. A second pool serves lap swimming. Add the fitness room, snorkelling gear, evening entertainment and daily activities, all included.

What travellers complain about

The score is good, at 4.3 out of 5 across more than three thousand two hundred reviews, second among Paradise Island hotels. The complaints are precise and recurring.

Plastic dishware, plates included, comes up constantly: several guests feel it cheapens the place. The outdoor bar closes at six, which pushes everyone into a heavily air-conditioned lobby short of seating. Air conditioning is judged excessive at the buffet and reception. Shower gel dispensers are not always refilled. Food quality varies from one restaurant to another.

One last point, more important: the hotel sells day and evening passes to non-guests, which loads the pool and beach on some days.

What to know about the fees

A daily resort fee applies, calculated per person rather than per room, plus Bahamian value added tax. For a couple, the charge therefore doubles compared with a hotel that bills per room. Have your advisor price the total before comparing.

Standard Wi-Fi is free; the enhanced version is paid and included in the upper Harbour categories. The precise list of all-inclusive exclusions, notably on premium spirits, the spa and motorized sports, is not published by the hotel: your advisor can have it confirmed by the supplier.

The airport is about twenty-four kilometres away, thirty to thirty-five minutes. Downtown Nassau is roughly five kilometres by the bridges.

Who this address suits

It suits couples and adult groups who want the simplicity of an all-inclusive on Paradise Island, those who like late nights and late meals, and those willing to take a shuttle to the big beach.
